We have a dress code for most of our classes. This way teachers can properly see the dancer's movements and provide appropriate body alignment corrections. Safety is also addressed with our dress code.
During the summer months we are lenient with our dress code.
Shoes and Attire
Leotard
It is important for dance teachers to see the dancer's body at work. The students must wear a leotard that is form fitting and flexible. Specific colors are required so that the class appears unified providing teachers awareness to instruct and determine when corrections are necessary.
Tights
Tights are worn to protect the legs from scrapes and burns that can occur from shoes or the
studio floor. Pantyhose do not protect legs and are not acceptable for class.
Shoes
Appropriate shoes, including specific color, are required. Attention should be paid to the proper fit. Loose fitting shoes can cause injury and out-grown shoes can cause improper development of the bones. All shoes can be purchased at the studio. We do suggest this to avoid the wrong color/style/fit of shoes. We provide shoes to try on for fitting purposes at the studio. Shoes must be paid for at time of order.
Hair
Hair must be secured away from the face in a bun.
Boys
A t-shirt and shorts or flexible pants are appropriate attire.
Warm up's or cover up's can be worn during warm up only. A dance skirt over the leotard is acceptable for ballet classes. Lycra dance shorts can be worn over the leotard for tap, jazz, or hip hop classes. Teachers will ask those not following the dress code to sit out of class. Teachers reserve the right to change any of these requirements as they see fit for their classes and/or for recital performances.
